Angel (Ainjiel Shaolee)
ANGEL’S DEBUT ALBUM REVELLER IS COMING SOON VIA ANGEL / AMERICAN ARTISTE UNDER EXCLUSIVE LICENSE. THE DEBUT ALBUM, HER PERSONAL ARTISTIC STATEMENT, SEES ANGEL THRIVE – COMMANDING CREATIVE CONTROL THROUGH CO-WRITING HER OWN SONGS WHILE PRODUCING AND CREATING HER OWN VISUALS.
This song came about last year around the start of the pandemic, and I decided to record it just before the whole world shut down and stopped.
Then I realised that it needed a video, so we came up with the idea to make it more ‘up close and personal’ due to the subject matter. It really resonates with me and I hope you feel the same.
Just Wanna Be With You
This second video was especially challenging during lockdown as it was starting to become really hard to do anything creative on your own. So my management team and I came up with a novel concept of using a projector, some gaffa tape, a black sheet and some cool editing to make a video appear sexy like James Bond, haha. Judge for yourself.
This was just fun in the tub. We originally wanted to go for a kind of ‘Addicted to Love’ but then it was nice and warm, so we thought 2 videos are better than one. In fact we made more footage than my management team could ever possible possibly handle. Let me know your fave…. and No, you can’t have the outtakes 😜.
Pandemic Survival Guide
Before the pandemic began singer Angel (Ainjiel-Shaolee Clark) had been working on her debut record.
“I was so close to releasing my music, I almost had the goal posts in my sights” said the 23-year-old singer from Boston, Lincolnshire. She had lined up professional managers, producers and even started talking with Talent Agents in Los Angeles.
“but then, it was almost as if the whole world just stopped”.
Angel is not alone in her story – a story which many young people will relate to for years to come.
“But I thought, I’m not going to let this stop me. What can I do to make it all even better?”
Angel went through her music track by track and added improvements, writing new music, learning new audio production techniques and improving on her photographic and video skills.
“I really wanted to start releasing my recordings but I felt that without being able to support a release by playing live, I would just become another forgotten casualty of the creative arts. So I’m really looking forward to getting out and playing live again now there’s hope on the horizon”.
Step 1: Eat Avacado.
Step 2: Film silly things for TikTok. Engage with humans….
Step 3: Record a song, take some pics, walk dog.
Step 4: Netflix.
Step 5: Repeat.
'Scuse me while I whip this out...
Recording the modern way.
I’ve been putting my album together piece by piece in Logic using all sorts of technical wizardry. It’s a luxury to be able to have the time to work on your own music. I honestly don’t know how they managed in the past. My manager told me that his band used to save up as much as they could all afford and spend it all just recording over a single weekend in a professional studio that had a lot less than Logic Pro has to offer. That’s crazy!
